Whether you are trying to fulfill a service learning requirement, get more experience or want to learn something new, Coosa Riverkeeper is a great place to intern! Although we offer internship opportunities all year long, our summer internships are the most valuable to both the intern and our organization. For more information email [email protected]

Fish Guide Internship (2 Available)

The Fish Guide Interns work directly with the Field Coordinator to plan and carry out the 2022  Coosa River Fall Creel Survey. A creel survey is a Q&A style form that asks those who fish on the Coosa  River about their fishing and eating habits. This involves planning the survey trips, going to local fishing  spots, interviewing the anglers about their fishing habits, and inputting this data into a spreadsheet. The 2022 Fall Creel Survey will take place both virtually and in-person during November, December & January. Additionally, the Fish  Guide Interns provide crucial support with outreach and communications about the survey itself  including content creation, photo opportunities, and social media outreach. We want 100 kids to put down their screens and pick up fishing rodsHelp us reach out $10,000 goal for Giving Tuesday!

Many folks have memories of learning how to fish from a family member or a camp. These days kids and families might not know where to start when it comes to learning how to cast, catch, and cook fish from the river. During our clinics, we will work with kids in an experiential learning style with casting lessons, discussion on responsible recreation on the river, and explain how to reduce exposure to potentially harmful contaminants through live cooking demonstrations.
